What do a Jersey girl and Midwest Hoosier have in common? The pseudonym Marissa Alwin. Maureen and Melissa combined their first names to give birth to Marissa.
Now we needed a surname. We played with combinations of our last names and nothing seemed to fit.
Well, we thought, what are we? We are friends. Why not a name that means friend?
After a bit of a search, we decided on the name Alwin. We liked its meaning for several reasons. Yes, it means friend, but there is more to this name and more to us.
A person with the name Alwin is said to be motivated by a desire to succeed. A happy go lucky person of a noble character. Hopeful, cheerful, and loves the arts. The name fits us and who we are as friends and a writing team.
We wouldn't change anything, from the moment we said hello to one another in an online chatroom to the moment in email when we decided to turn our fan fiction partnership into the real deal.
What drew us to one another? The love of a really good romance.
Something we demand out of a romance? To be drawn into the lives of two people as they grow, overcome obstacles, and arrive at a happy ever after.
Something we're both addicted to? An alpha male.
And that's what we write, it's the core of every story. A really good romance, with all its sensuality from the first heated glance to the fever of that passion fulfilled, mixed with adventure; be it spine-tingling action, a mystery waiting to be solved, or a meeting of the unknown in any time or place. Throw in an alpha hero after his heroine's heart and the possibilities are endless. We love the what-if's that throw twists and turns at our characters, that torture and bring out the best or worst in them as they search for their happily ever after.
